This movie is to remember that the women of Syria have played an important role in the revolution since the beginning.

“Revolution, oh my country,

a revolution of the free!

My country will be free forevermore,

And Bashar will flee!”

A song that echoes in Zabadani, a city located in the countryside of Damascus. The melody of which was repeated by the women of Zabadani, whose demonstrations were not only against the political regime, but also against the traditions and costumes of a conservative society that the revolution helped them overcome. The revolutionary women of Zabadani were able to break social norms and overcome traditional barriers, to be a vital part of the Syrian uprising. These activists took part in the revolutionary movement, from protests and graffiti, to leaflet distribution and inciting people of Zabadani to strike.

In only a few minutes the short film, Revolutionary Women of Zabadani, tells the story of the city’s women and how they left their mark on every little detail in the uprising. The film tells the story of their participation that began with overcoming fear in their first demonstration, demanding freedom for detainees and writing freedom banners, and has yet to end.

The film is produced by Kayani and The Street Foundation.
